Jan 17 2007 A member of our community told me today that she encountered a young lady on her back porch/sunroom after returning from shopping. The lady was nicely dressed, maybe age 25 and driving a nice beige/white toyota car. When confronted, she said she was looking for "Kelly" and then ran to her car and sped away. It happened so fast that a full description of the car could not be made but a partial license plate number was obtained. A smart thief will dress to fit into their surroundings as this lady did. Be on the look out for people that do not have a reason to be hanging around houses while the owners are away. Frank, (Admin) 8)
Feb 07 2007 In the past month, there have been several larceny from vehicles in the Western Branch area. Cell phones, stereos, cameras, and other items have been taken. Keep an eye out regarding this. Things to look for if you happen to be up: [b:8394c8d11c]Unknown parked vehicles in the street or vehicles riding through the neighborhood with lights off. People walking around during the night-typically the thieves will park a car and then walk around to find the unlocked vehicles and then return to their vehicle or have a driver meet them at a certain location.[/b:8394c8d11c] If you see something suspicious, call Police. At the very least they will come out and be able to get information on the suspicious activity and document it. Remember, our neighborhood has two basic entry and exit points. A neighbor with a suspicious eye coupled with a quick call to Police can result in catching these knuckleheads.
Jul 12 2007 Sometime from July 4th - July 9th, our blue paddle boat disappeared from our dock. We suspect it was taken since the line was thrown up into the yard. Anyone with information on who might have taken it, or where it might be found, please reply to this post, and I will contact you.
Jul 15 2007 Thanks to the visual vigilance of a neighbor, our boat was found tied to a nearby dock.
Sep 09 2007 Neighbors, A Braddock Landing Resident (friend of one of our neighbors) experienced a frightening situation on Sat at 11:30 am. [b:f5b72d4b1d]She was running along the walking trail that parallels our neighborhood when she heard steps behind her[/b:f5b72d4b1d]. A man approximately 20 years of age verbally threatened her and chased her into the busy street with cars swerving and honking but none stopping to help. Though the man yelled out the sex acts he wanted to commit against the women as he chased her, his motive remains unclear. Perhaps he wanted to see her hit by a car. Fortunately she was not physically injured and the police think they know who the man is. He has been known to sit or hang around the pump station between the Crossings and the Methodist Church. While possibly not connected, neighbors reported 5 police cars and police with a dog near that pump station Tuesday evening. - With school just in session if our children must walk home they need to know to stay on our side of the street, rather than the wooded area near that pump station. - Our runners or trail walkers need to know of the situation with the suggestion to run in a group. - All should know to be aware of anyone lurking around and everyone should be alert and willing to note and report suspicious activity. - The women escaped, but headphones with music may have prevented the women from knowing of the man's approach from behind. - Running into the street may have saved her, but has risks too. The good news is that we have the opportunity to be aware and to talk with those we love about the positive steps that you believe are important for the safety of each family. Even if the man is quickly apprehended, that conversation should happen.[/size:f5b72d4b1d][/size:f5b72d4b1d]
Sep 09 2007 FYI, The attacker has been caught. I don't know the name presently or how long he will (or has been detained). Perhaps this will be some consolation to neighbors; although caution and prudence still needs to be exercised.
Oct 08 2007 My daughter's purple bike was stolen from our driveway this weekend (10-6). If you see it, please email me. Also, put your bikes in the garage!! We warned her about this. Thank you
Oct 10 2007 Thank you!!! That was my daugher's bike.
Sep 02 2008 About 2:30 a.m. Monday morning Sept. 1 we had someone throw a rock through the front post light causing the bulbs to explode and distort the lamp. Although only minor vandalism, in talking with the police, there was more damage in Lilly Cove as vandals destroyed yards, lawn and pulled up plants and shrubs. these vandals may have done more within our neighborhood which was not reported because folks thought it was minor or isolated. Report all vandalism so the police know what's happening.
