07 Jun 2010 The Green Meadow Point Garden Club would like to thank all the residents who have contributed to the Entrance Fund the past several years. As you have noticed, recently the planters have gotten quite overgrown and way beyond just maintenance. We have contracted with Eric Newman to remove the large shrubs at the front of each of the four planters, prune the nandina at the rear of the planters, prune the shrubs at each side, add planting soil to bring the level of the planting area up. All this is work beyond the abilities of the garden club members at this time. The walls containing the entrance signs will be repainted. Pink begonias will then be planted in each raised bed (about 10 per bed), and mulch will be added to control weeds. Pink was chosen to carry out the National Garden Clubs project "Plant it Pink" for breast cancer awareness. We will have daffodil bulbs for next spring for the "Golden Days" project. And we plant to plant liriope in the space in front of each raised bed. During the delivery of the neighborhood directories this summer, we will again be asking for you tax-deductible contributions for this continuing project.
