02 Oct 2011 The Green Meadow Point Garden Club will meet at 9:30 AM Tuesday October 18 at the home of Fran Mueller, 4256 Meadow Wood Dr.to carpool to Smithfield Gardens in Suffolk for a lecture/demonstration on "Plants for Color for Fall" presented by Mr. Les Parks, General Manager of Smithfield Gardens Garden Center. We will then return to the home of Fran Mueller for the Business meeting and lunch. Visitors/new members are always welcomed at our meetings. 10 Nov 2011 The Green Meadow Point Garden Club reminds everyone that, as we are well into the fall with leaves dropping, please clean the street in front of your house to allow water to flow to the drains without taking leaves and other debris. If you use fertilizer or weed killers, please be careful to keep all products from the drains so as to protect our water. For information about water conservation and water facts, contact any member of the Green Meadow Point Garden Club.
03 Jan 2012 The Green Meadow Point Garden Club will meet at 7 PM January 17, 2012 at the home of Diane Bennett, 3012 Lord Bradford Court in Brittany Woods. the program will be "Hummingbirds and Plants That Attract Them", presented by Diane Bennett. There will also be a mini-program on National Garden Clubs Member Services, learning how NGC serves its members throughout the country. 10 Nov 2011 The Green Meadow Point Garden Club will meet at 7 PM Tuesday November 15 at the home of Clemae Smith, 2848 W. Meadow Wood Dr. the program will be a lecture/demonstration floral design program, "Fall Designs", by Bill Smoot, a flower show judge and winner in many flower show entries. 24 Jan 2012 The Green Meadow Point Garden Club is pleased that four members entered horticulture specimens in the recent Tidewater District VFGC Flower Show and brought home the following ribbons: Mary Dixon, 1 Red; Mary Sue Floyd 2 Blues, 3 Reds, 1 Yellow; Janet Glasz 1 Red; and Barbara Ohmsen 1 Blue, 4 Reds.
03 Apr 2012 The Green Meadow Point Garden Club will meet Tuesday April 17 at 10:00 AM at the home of Carole Turner, 2808 Ashwood Dr. and carpool for a yard tour of the home of Patricia Sykes before returning to the meeting place for lunch and business meeting. For club information contact Club President Mary Sue Floyd at 484-7604. During the week of April 16-20 members of the garden club will be taking Chucky Chipmunk and his anti-litter slogan - "Stop Throwing, Start Stowing" - to the Kinder-Prep at Aldersgate United Methodist church and to two classes at Wetern Branch Primary School. We would welcome anyone who might be interested in becoming a garden club member.
05 Apr 2012 At the recent meeting of the Tidewater District of the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs, the Green Meadow Point Garden Club was honored to receive the following awards for their club work during the past club year: First Place for Chucky Chipmunk, Club Yearbook, Club Newsletter, Club Brochure, District Attendance, Litter/Recycling, Club Press Book; and Second Place for Club Scrapbook.
02 May 2012 The Green Meadow Point Garden Club will meet at 7:00 PM Tuesday May 15 at the home of Bernie Demkowski, 2837 Meadow View Rd. The program will be "Lawn and Garden questions and Answers" by Tommy Heath, owner of Norfolk County Feed & Seed. The design title is "May Basket", a mass design in a basket using fresh plant material. Visitors or new members are always welcomed. Contact Mary Sue Floyd at 484-7604 for club information.
11 May 2012 The Green Meadow Point Garden Club was pleased to have been given the following awards by the Virginia Federation of Garden Clubs: First Place for Club Yearbook, Club Press Book, Youth Horticulture Education, Special Achievement, and Litter/Recycling/Reclamation; and Second Place for Club Newsletter and Club Brochure. This club was also given, by the South Atlantic Region of Garden Clubs, First Place for Club Yearbook, Club Press Book, Special Achievement, and Litter/Recycling/Reclamation.
11 May 2012 The Green Meadow Point Garden Club has awarded Yard-of-the-Month for May to Doris Brickhouse on Green View Rd. in third Section.
